Nanonephrology

April 26th, 2008 Posted in Treating diseases

Nanonephrology is a subfield of nanomedicine and it deals with studying the kidney structures at the molecular / atomic levels, kidney nano-imaging and treatments that cure various kidney diseases. Of course, nanonephrology growth will be based upon discoveries in other parts of nanomedicine. Major renal diseases can be cured by understanding the kidney protein structure. Being able to cure such diseases will significantly make life easier for patients will renal ilnesses.

It is desireable for the nanoparticles to be somehow removed through metabolism, ideally without any toxic side effects. Using nanoparticles is a big advantage when compared to the classic approach (radiation, chemotherapies) because it’s treating the unhealthy cells only, not the surrounding tissue.
